Lopez and Huffman named First Team All Region 2024-25

Denmark senior Hannah Lopez became the third Lady Dane to reach the 1,000 career point milestone Tuesday evening in region  win 62-32 over Alpharetta.

Denmark senior Emma Hempker eclipsed the 500 rebound milestone in her 100th varsity game as a Lady Dane on Saturday afternoon vs. North Gwinnett in the Hounds Hoops Classic at Pope High School.     

Combined with her 1,000 point career achievement during her junior season, Emma is now second in career scoring and rebounding at Denmark.  With half a season remaining, she will soon surpass 1,500 career points.  

Erik Siuta will be the head girls basketball coach for Denmark high School for the 2022-23 season. Coach Siuta currently serves as an assistant coach at South Forsyth in the boys program. He also served as the head coach of the Piney Grove Middle School program from 2017-2019. Coach Siuta has been teaching for 16 years, and has been involved in basketball either as a player or coach for 25 years. Mr. Siuta graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and currently teaches PE at Brandwyine Elementary.

The Lady Danes secured their first region win in program history on Friday night.  The Danes trailed West Hall 21-27 entering the fourth quarter, and came back to win with a final score of 47 - 38. The Danes Scoring was lead by Jessie DeNardo with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. The Danes defense was lead by Clarissa Kelly with 7 steals in the fourth quarter. Kelly added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Sophomore Jordyn Denardo brought the defensive pressure, adding 3 steals and 6 points in the fourth quarter. Leah Kelly finished with 7 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists.
