Congratulations to Sophomore Jordyn DeNardo and Freshman Jessie DeNardo for being nominated the January Forsyth County Tip Off Club Co-Players of the Month!
The Lady Danes secured their first region win in program history on Friday night. The Danes trailed West Hall 21-27 entering the fourth quarter, and came back to win with a final score of 47 - 38. The Danes Scoring was lead by Jessie DeNardo with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. The Danes defense was lead by Clarissa Kelly with 7 steals in the fourth quarter. Kelly added 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Sophomore Jordyn Denardo brought the defensive pressure, adding 3 steals and 6 points in the fourth quarter. Leah Kelly finished with 7 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists.
Jaime Maxey is entering her first year as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Denmark High School. Maxey joins the Denmark family from Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia, where she was an assistant coach for the Varsity girls’ team. Maxey helped lead the cougars to their most successful season in school history, compiling a 22-7 record and reaching the quarterfinals in the AAAAAA state playoffs. She also served as the head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Chattahoochee, where she led the Cougars to the second round of the state playoffs for the first time in three years. Coach Maxey graduated from The Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia, and played on the 2005-06 and 2006-07 State Runner-Up teams. She went on to play collegiate basketball at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Congratulations Coach Maxey!
